I was at Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor over the last holiday and notice tremendous business opportunity there.

I saw a lot of people from city visiting this kampung area for sight seeing, enjoying the food, buying fresh seafood and fruits also visit the local attraction such as firefly and eagle watching.

So where is your home town ? Is there something that you home town can offer to city folks ?

Simple things such as waterfall, orchard farm, rubber tapping, traditional food etc etc can be an attraction.

You may say you do not have any orchard or good cook nor there is any water near your kampung, what if your neighbour ? They may have something to offer ? Why not leverage on what they have and offer it to your friends or officemate in the city ? At the same time, you got a chance to go back to home town yet making some money out of it.

Now start looking at what you have in your home town, any specialty such as nature attraction ? historical attraction, traditional food ? etc etc. If you have more to offer, then look for a potential homestay package, it is not necessary to be a beautiful house as long as it is clean and safe. You might not have one but your neighbour might be interested to offer.

For example,

8am Depart to Kampung from KL

10am Reach Kampung – proceed to orchard for food harvesting

12pm Traditional Lunch at Makcik house

2pm Visit near by waterfall, birdwatching and butterfly hunting

5pm Shopping at local market

6pm Traditional Dinner at Makcik house

8pm Back to KL

Even you do not have anything to offer, you still can make money by leveraging what others have to offer.

I missed an Opportunity

I like cars especially four wheel drive, I know most of the four wheel drive in Malaysia and I do keep a close eye on the current price of each model.

Yesterday was an excellent day, I spotted an advertisement for one of my favorite 4×4 selling at a huge discount, almost RM10,000.00 cheaper then the market price. I was very excited and quickly call the owner for a viewing appointment, due to my earlier commitment, I can only go with my mechanic at 3.30pm.

While waiting for the appointment, I was very excited about the opportunity making about RM5,000.00 to RM6,000.00 in a short period of time doing nothing – just resell the car.

BUT… too bad.

At 2.30pm the car owner called and telling me that the car has been sold… oh my god.. what a disappointment but I cannot blame the car owner as the understanding is whoever pay him first will get the car.

Errrh……my fault, I should not miss such a good opportunity.. this kind of deal hardly come by and I should put it in top priority.. I learn a lesson and I will not let it happened again in the future.

So for those car lovers visiting this blog, there are a lot of opportunities to make extra money out there. You might say you do not have money, but why are you worry so much about money, if you have a good deal, you should be able to find someone to work together with you.

What can I do to make Money during my Free Time?

A friend was asking me what she can do to make extra money, I pause for a while and thinking most of us living in the city area like Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching wanted to making extra money as living cost is getting higher.

You salary might not be able to cover your living expenses, you may end up working part time such as directly selling, insurance, chef, retail assistance or even waiter or waitress during off office hour and during weekends.

The above scenario also provide a lot of companies coming up with some “home based” data entry job, it sounds a perfect job where you can make a couple of hundred dollars a month working from home.

The trap is you need to pay a registration fees before you can get the job, PLEASE AVOID those job, it is a scam. Once you pay your registration fees and hoping that the job is coming, don’t dream about it, your money is gone forever.

Now come back to my friend’s question, what can she do to make extra money in Malaysia ? I believe everyone born with a speciality, be it cooking, arts, analytic skill, selling skill and etc

The first thing you need to do is understand your current situation. How is your current working schedule ? What are the times that you are available for the new task ?

For example, you may work 9am to 6pm, 6 days a week. So you are only available form 8pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday and whole day on Sunday.Once you find out your available time, you will have to move on to what are your skills. I have heard many saying that they do not have any skill. Please take some time to think about it, it need not be a perfect skill, as long as you think you can do it will do.

Get a piece of paper and write down what do you thing you are good at. For example, cooking, singing, writing, teaching, maths, art, relationship with kids, designing, sewing, sport, home DIY, car repair, gardening etc.

Make sure you have 10 of those skills before you stop, as I said, it does not need to be excellent skill, as long as you feel you can do it, just write it down.

Once you have the available time and type of skill that you may have, then you need to narrow it down to 2 things that you can do during your free time to make extra money. So from 10 to 2 is not so difficult isn’t it ?

If you cannot get the above task done, then I am sorry, you are not going anyway. Money will not fall from sky, if you are not going to put in effort, money will not coming to you.

If you don’t even understand you current situation, you are not going to move to next step. Get a piece of paper, write down what is your available free time and 10 skills that you may have, then narrow it down to 2 most potential one according to your available free time.

How to make extra money in a week ?

Everyone need extra money from time to time, be it paying your bills, credit card, housing loan, car loan, children expenses etc.

What can we do in a week to make extra money ?

1) Sell off items that you do not use. I am sure you have a lot of stuffs hidden in the drawer that you hardly use since you bought it. Take it out and have a quick check, if you do not really need the items in a very near term, sell it off. You may sell it to your local shop that buys used item or you can sell it online via free local classified website. Selling it the used item shop will be fast but the price will be lower as company to selling it yourself via free online classified. Depending on your situation, the most important is selling the item fast and get the money.

2) Work Part Time. Looking for a part time job that pays daily or weekly. If you are working day time and only able to work at night or weekend, I will strongly suggest you check out the local hotel if they have any banquet function. Banquet function usually hosted at night or weekend. Furthermore you don’t need any special skill to be a banquet helper.

Other than that, please check out the local retail store, restaurant, food court, coffee shop for part time vacancy.

3) Part Time Business. Some time you don’t need money to start a business. For example, you may approach car owner in your neighbourhood to offer car wash service. Charge an amount that cheaper than the car washer but use their car shampoo and vacuum cleaner. Given a choice, I would rather have someone washing my car when I can relax at home rather than waiting at the car wash station. Gardening is also good for making quick money in a week. Just approach your neighbour for garden maintenance and get paid once the job done.

4) Street Performance – Do you have the skill such as singing, music instrument, dancing, story telling, joke telling ? Head to the street and perform to the public and I am pretty sure the some public will reward you with some small change. My motto is “ if you don’t try, you will never know the result “. Remember you need some money to settle your problem in a week, what have you got to lose if there is no result ? Nothing at all.

Everybody wanted to make money and get rich so that we can live the life style that we want without worrying about money.

Before we can become rich, we got to find out how to make money.

Their income is unlimited depending on their sales result. In summary, you make money by trading your time with your employer.

3) Self employment – Basically you are the boss and you are the worker, you don’t get paid a fix salary at the end of the month. When you work, you make money, when you stop, no money will be coming in. This category inclusive of people like doctor, electrical service technician, plumber, writer, translator etc. In summary, you make money by offering your services directly to your customer.

4) Part Time Business – whether you are employed or self employed, you can start a part time business to make extra money after your committed time to your employer. You may sell newspaper, breakfast before you go to work, selling stuff via Internet in the evening after office hour, or selling goods or services related to your hobby during weekend in the flea market. In summary, you make extra money beside your full time income.

7) Speculation – You can make money by speculation too, the most common speculation activities can be seen in the stock market, Forex as well as commodity market. If you foresee the price of a stock, a currency or a commodity will be going up, you may purchase it now and sell it when the price goes up in a very near term. The different between speculation and investment are time and foundation. Investment is long term and depending on the solid foundation. Speculation is short term and depends on supply and demands.
