A friend was asking me what she can do to make extra money, I pause for a while and thinking most of us living in the city area like Klang Valley, Penang, Johor Bahru, Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching wanted to making extra money as living cost is getting higher.

You salary might not be able to cover your living expenses, you may end up working part time such as directly selling, insurance, chef, retail assistance or even waiter or waitress during off office hour and during weekends.

The above scenario also provide a lot of companies coming up with some “home based” data entry job, it sounds a perfect job where you can make a couple of hundred dollars a month working from home.

The trap is you need to pay a registration fees before you can get the job, PLEASE AVOID those job, it is a scam. Once you pay your registration fees and hoping that the job is coming, don’t dream about it, your money is gone forever.

Now come back to my friend’s question, what can she do to make extra money in Malaysia ?  I believe everyone born with a speciality, be it cooking, arts, analytic skill, selling skill and etc

The first thing you need to do is understand your current situation.  How is your current working schedule ?  What are the times that you are available for the new task ? 

For example, you may work 9am to 6pm, 6 days a week. So you are only available form 8pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday and whole day on Sunday.Once you find out your available time, you will have to move on to what are your skills. I have heard many saying that they do not have any skill. Please take some time to think about it, it need not be a perfect skill, as long as you think you can do it will do.

Get a piece of paper and write down what do you thing you are good at. For example, cooking, singing, writing, teaching, maths, art, relationship with kids, designing, sewing, sport, home DIY, car repair, gardening etc.

Make sure you have 10 of those skills before you stop, as I said, it does not need to be excellent skill, as long as you feel you can do it, just write it down.

Once you have the available time and type of skill that you may have, then you need to narrow it down to 2 things that you can do during your free time to make extra money. So from 10 to 2 is not so difficult isn’t it ?

If you cannot get the above task done, then I am sorry, you are not going anyway. Money will not fall from sky, if you are not going to put in effort, money will not coming to you.

If you don’t even understand you current situation, you are not going to move to next step. Get a piece of paper, write down what is your available free time and 10 skills that you may have, then narrow it down to 2 most potential one according to your available free time.
